Analysis on different music videos by different artists

What are the techniques being used?
How is it similar to the other clips being watched by him?

Sabotage by Beasties boys
Weezer had taken some of the conventions of 1970’s cop’s shows and their ‘Beasty’ hair was also representing the cops in the 1970’s.

Weezer Budy Holy 1990’s
The link between Sabotage and Budy Holy is that they both use footage from different media’s. Budy holy uses footage from the series Happy Days (massive tv show) all the characters in the clip were from the TV show. The effects created are groundbreaking as people from the TV show were in the series. There was a cut and then it said, “To be continued…” This was extremely effective as the TV show Happy Days uses the same effect.

Bjork (Icelandic) , Oh so quiet
It starts as though it’s very real and as you go on it becomes more fantasised.
She’s in a toilet in the beginning and in the end the post box is flying with her compares and talk about the contrast in essay.
The lighting goes dark when the music is slow and when the music is fast and she enter and leaves the garage shop the lighting gets brighter and darker depending on the whether the music is fast or slow.
Combination between yellow ad blue near the end.. Talks about contrast..
The background dancers are all wearing different clothes to her so she stands out near the end.
In the Oscars Bjork wore this dress which was in Bjork. She was the olden version Lady Gaga of the 90’s however, wasn’t as famous as Lady Gaga.
When the music is fast the light is bright and when the music slow the lighting goes slow.
This clip was like a musical especially when she enters the restaurant and starts dancing. Whereas in this clip the shots are not snappy and stay quiet similar. However the pace changes from fast to slow regularly, ensuring the audience is engaged at all time.
The beginning a girl washing her phase starts with showing Bjork the band member.
She moves slowly with the melody.
Suddenly she enter the garage everyone’s start dancing and change in pace of music and her actions and there always a medium shot.
The continuous change in music and movement from slow to fast is effective and ironic.
When she leaves the tires garage shop the music again goes fast.
Near the beginning the medium shot and close up shot on her face and the piano playing very slowly.
Suddenly the music fasts again and
An overview shot of the umbrellas to keep us engaged.
The camera just follows her through out the music video.
Her clothes are yellow to represent the song and her personality and dance
In the ending the camera gets closer and closer to camera.
He musicals in this video – different medias which makes them all similar.
Bjork present her self in a sweet way and Madonna presents her self as a ‘sexy’ person.
Appeals to a different kind

 Praise you by Fatboy slim
People in the background of this clip are unaware of what is going on. This clip was purposely made to trick people and is also very effective as it keeps the audience confused. And it seemed as though people were dancing in the middle and everyone’s watching them.

Undone by Weezer
There were no cuts in the video and it was an entire length shot. Medium shot
The shots that were mainly being used were pan and track shot mixed in together both going at a very slow pace.
The message that was portrayed in this music video was to show that is weird and different from others.
The dogs suddenly came in between the set which was extremely weird. In the end they went crazy and stopped pretending to play the instruments.
This is very similar to Buork as it was continuous.
Whilst filming this video no one was aware that they were going to film such a video, therefore the theatre manager angrily turned off the music.
The main character standing normally made it ironic.
