Take That analysis

Take that - One of the most successful boy band of all time

One of the bands we looked at was Take That
Very famous Band and sold more than 19 million records between 1991-1996

The band had five members named; Gary BarlowHoward DonaldJason OrangeMark Owen and Robbie Williams.
Take That- One band which had been followed from early days.  In earlier years to listen to a song, the individual would have to seek for the music or album. Whereas now people are able to listen to music on their MP3 Players or Ipod's whilst doing other things at the same time.

Take that was formed in 1989 and many even say that the band was a response to American Band, New kids on the block.

How were the band represented in the early days?
The band were represented as 'cool' young boys. Their aim was to appeal young, outgoing and fun audience. Their Manager made them wear tight and vulgar clothes  that portrayed them as gay boys, however they were not gay. They appealed gay audience and later on they even objected to wear gay clothing's. However, the music they were releasing during their early days was all lively music that would generally played at party's.

How has the band Take That changed over the year with their marketing and branding techniques?
The band Take That had changed a lot over the years, and their change was portrayed through their last single with Robbie Williams called Back For Good.
Throughout the music video of  'Back For Good' Robbie Williams had his hair shaved off to show that the band are gradually growing up with the fans as well and have adapted to the change in era.

Through their single 'No one better than us' they showed dolls in their music video which was a way of merchandising and branding themselves.

Take That's second album changed their 'gay' image to a more glamorous and manly image, therefore this allowed them to also have a larger female fan following as well. This was an excellent technique of branding and marketing as this improved the overall image of the band and allowed the fans to diversify even more.

The last single, 'Back for good' celebrated individualism because each band member was wearing different style of clothing in comparison to one another. This allowed them to establish as an individual and gave them their own identity. This could of probably made many fans upset and their change of clothing could of foreshadowed their rift and their desire to spit. On the other hand, because they were all singing together it still showed their unity and loyalty to each other throughout their singing career as a band. Also the colours throughout the music video co notated sadness as they were all wearing dark coloured clothes.
